The news spreading

BCCI confirms the news that they allow Virat’s girlfriend Anushka
Sharma to stay with Virat Kohli in England for the Tests and this is
surely a different one by according to the criteria of the team for last few
The team management was
slightly taken aback when the BCCI approved Kohli's plea of letting Anushka
stay with him. But they were told there was no reason to worry as the two were
planning to get married. And this isn't the first time such a thing was happening.
A captain's girlfriend had travelled with the team in the past as well.
In fact, the BCCI also
told them that Kohli was smart enough to handle the situation and the media
wouldn't even get to know of Anushka's presence -a definite error of judgment.
On the view that
Anushka's presence had nothing to do with Kohli's poor form, the official said:
"Unlike football, Test cricket is played for eight hours. And when the
mind is on picking and dropping friends, the result will be visible on the
field itself. Off-field activities definitely play on the mind."
released on 22 August has opened in theatres with positive reviews from around
the cinema world. The film, starring Mammootty and Aparna Gopinath in the lead
is directed by award winning cinematographer turned director Venu.
The story of the film
begins when Anjali Arakkal (Aparna), a freelance journalist decides to write
about Raghavan (Mammootty), an ex-convict. Though she approaches him to write a
book about him for her own selfish reason of making money, Raghavan's life changes
her thoughts and perception towards the life.
Raghavan was jailed for
a double homicide, which he never committed, but he is someone who prefers to
be in jail than living a social life.
The film also discusses
the difference in the personalities of these two characters and how their life
and thoughts influence each other.
Then we have the
huge array of veterans and a delightful cameo by Prithviraj, all complimenting
the tone and vibe of the film.
The film also has
Nedumudi Venu, Prathap Pothan, Renji Panicker, Joshy Mathew, Sreeraman,
Sudheesh and Saiju Kurup in pivotal roles and a cameo appearance by Prithviraj.
The film is scripted by
R. Unni. The cinematography is handled by Venu himself and editing is done by
Bina Paul. The music is composed by Bijipal. The film is produced by Ranjith
under the banner of Gold Coin Motion Pictures.
Venu himself has done
the cinematography and this time it is very good with most of the shots having
a realistic appeal. The dark shade in the film has helped it to carry the
R. Unni’s script is the
backbone of the movie.
Editing by Bina Paul is
good and the length (Less than 120 minutes) is perfect for a film like this.
Bijibal's background score
is haunting at most places.
The locations are also
very much matching to the sequences.
This technical side has
helped the movie look more like a mainstream film rather than a serious one.

Box Office Analysis
Most of the audiences
approaching this movie with the result of last few Mammootty movies. But this
one is absolutely a different one. In first day most of the releasing centers
are seemed to low number of audience. But the movie will back in box office with
a high rate of appreciation from critics all over film media.
Mammootty rocks as
Raghavan. In fact, the megastar disappears completely in a few short minutes,
and you are in the grips of an elegant and effortless performance delivered by
and served to a crisp perfection by the national award winning legend. Go for the movie and enjoy the legendary act.
Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s Kaththi being
directed by AR Murugadoss is much expected by film buffs.
The film has Samantha as Vijay’s love interest and George C Williams
handles camera.Music is done by Anirudh and the young music
director discloses that the album of Kaththi will be
out in September. In his social blogger the music composer says, “Kaththi audio
is almost done.
A lot of big surprises in it for fans. Vijay sir’s song is also ready and I will be recording him in the coming days. Have planned to release the audio in September. Will announce the final date very soon”.
Anjaan has reportedly
made Rs.7.5 crores (approximate) in Tamil Nadu. From the Chennai region,
it has made above Rs.2 crores. This by any margin is a huge collection for a
Surya movie. It has earned above Rs.10 crore from three main markets (Tamil Nadu,
Karnataka and Kerala). The movie has opened up to mixed reviews. Anjaan
was released on Thursday (August 14) evening in foreign countries and it has
been released in India today for the Independence Day. The movie has opened big
worldwide by releasing in record number of screens.
In the international
circuits, Anjaan has raked in good revenue. The Tamil movie faced competition
from Hindi movie Singham Returns. The Surya starrer movie in the UK Box
Office has earned Rs.41.59 lakhs (£ 40,859). There were seven screens, which
are yet to be reported. In the Australian Box Office, the flick has minted
Rs.22.86 (A$ 40,150). Anjaan has earned a total of Rs.64.71 lakhs at the
US Box Office in the first two days (Thursday & Friday).
Superstar Shah Rukh
Khan launched the first trailer of his forthcoming home production 'Happy
New Year' (HNY), on the eve of India's Independence Day. The story of HNY is Shah
Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan dance their way to the biggest
diamond heist ever.
The sequel to the super
successful Singham sees the return of Bajirao Singham (Ajay Devgn) as a cop in
another city. The setting is Mumbai this time. But the action and drama is on a
much larger scale. This time around, Singham fights with all that's wrong with
our country. The story draws inspiration from real life, whether it is corrupt
politicians, cons masquerading as Babas, the helplessness of the system or the
people's party. The heroes of the film are the cops, not just a cop. The story
begins when one of Bajirao's team members is found dead with an ambulance full
of money. To protect the sanctity of the force, Bajirao decades to investigate
the matter. Soon enough, he finds out the two men responsible for the act - an
evil Godman (Amile Gupte) and his wily associate (Zakir Hussain). How Bajirao
then uses the system to fight the bad guys is what the film is about. And Avni
(Kareena Kapoor) plays his love interest.
Rohit knows how to
entertain and he does that in parts. The story is predictable no doubt but
Rohit packs it up with an interesting screenplay. The film is over-the-top;
it's even unreal at times. But Rohit gets the emotions right. If you understand
the tone of the film and what it's meant to deliver, you'll enjoy it better.
The idea is simple - Bajirao Singham is a people's hero so don't slow down on
the awe-inspiring moments; the ceetees and taalis will come for sure. And
that's where 'Singham Returns' delivers big time. Everytime the screenplay
slows down the pace, Rohit adds yet another high-speed highlight sequence that
grabs your attention. The film is full of such clap worthy moments. Ajay Devgan
is good as usual and keeps his Bajirao act intact. Amole Gupte as the Godman
succeeds in annoying, Dayanand Shetty repeats his Daya act from the popular
serial CID and makes a good impact. His 'darwaza tod do Daya' moment is sure to
bring the house down.
Haven't we seen enough
of corrupt politicians and babas in too many films before? The film could've
also been twenty minutes shorter. The many scenes at the mosque may have had
good intention but it does seem like they were aimed to woo a particular
section of fans. The dialogue baazi in the action scenes just slow down the
pace, when all you want to do is see the baddies' skulls being bashed. Kareena
Kapoor bubbly act is a less appealing version of her character in 'Jab We Met'.
A movie for die hard
Singam fans. A entertainment power pack
As like all Singam
series and Rohith Shetty movies, it also on the way to make a great business.
Anjaan FDFS Review | Anjaan Theater Collection | Book Anjaan Seats | Anjaan Tamil Movie Review | Anjaan 2014 Movie
The king of box office “Surya” rocks the theatre.
Anjaan reach over 1400+ theatres all over the world. The story is set against
the familiar backdrop of Mumbai. Lingusamy's attempt to create a
"Badshah" out of Suriya has missed the mark. The story revolves
around 'Raju bhai' played by Suriya who commands respect and fear in equal
measures among the people of Mumbai. This half-baked don tale supposedly loaded
with twists, turns, loyalty, treachery, risky action sequences ends up being a
stale affair due to poor screenplay.
The dazzling Surya looks dashing and smart. The
Neymar like hair do, toned down costumes and exquisitely built body are all
Santhosh Sivan's yellow DI throughout the film
gives the much needed look to the Mumbai based underworld film. There was no
darkness in the compositions, to bring out the brevity of the script. All the
gloss and shine goes with the art direction and shot divisions. Anthony sets a
pace and rhythm to this almost 3 hour long commercial film. Lingusamy has
written the film based on the 'present to memories' filled non-linear narration
to detail a suspense attempted story. Dialogues to a great extent are
acceptable except for one that keeps coming along.
The Tamil mass audiences want popcorn films.
Essentially, the film has to get over before the eatable gets over. Anjaan
takes its own sweet time to start and wrap. Though not much time is spent on
how Raju and Chandru became a name to be feared, the Raju Bhai phenomenon is
given the typical cliched hype almost till the second half.
Samantha is cute and apt. The love portions almost
work. Yuvan's background score gives varied colors. The siren used in the BGM
during the build-ups is an experimentation. Special attention could have been
given to the lip-syncs.
Starting from the perspective of the challenged
Krishna who goes on the picaresque search of his lost brother, the story dwells
too much on the already experienced cinematic liberties like the act of love,
friendship and revenge.
The pre-interval stunt sequence needs a special
mention. Stunt Silva has made it look live and realistic. Thanks to Surya,
Vidyut gets his slice of stunts in the flashback. Dissolved characters,
unfurnished villains, stereotypical narration and song placement duds the flow
of the film. The comedy portion of Brahmanandham forcefully put post-interval
catering to the Telugu audience, is a speed breaker to the already lurching
The predictable climax makes the whole product less
impactful. One palpable connect towards the denouement is a life saver. Anjaan
goes to the list of, 'Could have been better' movies.
As per the reports over theaters around us, Anjaan
makes a good business everywhere. But Slightly affecting Ajay Devagan- Rohith Shetty Movie “Singam Returns”
over north India.
Surely it will be a big
hit in box office. Lingusamy's writing is a big let-down with scenes and twists
along predictable lines. The writing department and script are weak while punch
dialogues may evoke unintentional laughter
Suriya and Anjaan, the big positives, but
screenplay is let down the movie slightly. Surely the movie will be a big
entertainment of the year. Just sit and enjoy on theater.

BOX OFFICE COLLECTION REPORT
First Day : *In According to the theater collection we will update the Box office reports soon
Rumors of the actor’s
alleged demise gained traction on Tuesday after a ‘R.I.P. Imran Khan’ Facebook
page attracted nearly one million of ‘likes’. Those who read the ‘About’ page
were given a believable account of the Indian actor’s passing:
“At about 11 a.m. ET on
Tuesday (August 12, 2014), our beloved actor Imran Khan passed away. Imran Khan
was born on January 13, 1983 in Madison. He will be missed but not forgotten.
Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page.”
Hundreds of fans
immediately started writing their messages of condolence on the Facebook page,
expressing their sadness that the talented 31-year-old actor was dead. And as
usual, Twittersphere was frenzied over the death hoax.
Where as some trusting fans believed the post, others were immediately skeptical of the report, perhaps learning their lesson from the huge amount of fake death reports emerging about celebrities over recent months. Some pointed out that the news had not been carried on any major Indian network, indicating that it was a fake report, as the death of an actor of Imran Khan's stature would be major news across networks.
A recent poll conducted for the Celebrity Post shows that a large majority (74%) of respondents think those Imran Khan death rumors are not funny anymore.
On Wednesday (August 13) the actor's reps officially confirmed that Imran Khan is not dead. “He joins the long list of celebrities who have been victimized by this hoax. He's still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet,” they said.
Some fans have expressed anger at the fake report saying it was reckless, distressing and hurtful to fans of the much loved actor. Others say this shows his extreme popularity across the globe.

'SixthSense' is a wearable gestural interface that augments
the physical world around us with digital information and lets us use natural
hand gestures to interact with that information.
We've evolved over millions of years to sense the world around us. When we
encounter something, someone or some place, we use our five natural senses to
perceive information about it; that information helps us make decisions and
chose the right actions to take. But arguably the most useful information that
can help us make the right decision is not naturally perceivable with our five
senses, namely the data, information and knowledge that mankind has accumulated
about everything and which is increasingly all available online. Although the
miniaturization of computing devices allows us to carry computers in our
pockets, keeping us continually connected to the digital world, there is no
link between our digital devices and our interactions with the physical world.
Information is confined traditionally on paper or digitally on a screen.
SixthSense bridges this gap, bringing intangible, digital information out into
the tangible world, and allowing us to interact with this information via
natural hand gestures. ‘SixthSense’ frees information from its confines by
seamlessly integrating it with reality, and thus making the entire world your
The SixthSense prototype is comprised of a pocket projector, a mirror and a
camera. The hardware components are coupled in a pendant like mobile wearable
device. Both the projector and the camera are connected to the mobile computing
device in the user’s pocket. The projector projects visual information enabling
surfaces, walls and physical objects around us to be used as interfaces; while
the camera recognizes and tracks user's hand gestures and physical objects
using computer-vision based techniques. The software program processes the
video stream data captured by the camera and tracks the locations of the
colored markers (visual tracking fiducials) at the tip of the user’s fingers
using simple computer-vision techniques. The movements and arrangements of
these fiducials are interpreted into gestures that act as interaction
instructions for the projected application interfaces. The maximum number of
tracked fingers is only constrained by the number of unique fiducials, thus
SixthSense also supports multi-touch and multi-user interaction.
The SixthSense prototype implements several applications that demonstrate the
usefulness, viability and flexibility of the system. The map application lets
the user navigate a map displayed on a nearby surface using hand gestures,
similar to gestures supported by Multi-Touch based systems, letting the user
zoom in, zoom out or pan using intuitive hand movements. The drawing
application lets the user draw on any surface by tracking the fingertip
movements of the user’s index finger. SixthSense also recognizes user’s
freehand gestures (postures). For example, the SixthSense system implements a
gestural camera that takes photos of the scene the user is looking at by
detecting the ‘framing’ gesture. The user can stop by any surface or wall and
flick through the photos he/she has taken. SixthSense also lets the user draw
icons or symbols in the air using the movement of the index finger and
recognizes those symbols as interaction instructions. For example, drawing a
magnifying glass symbol takes the user to the map application or drawing an ‘@’
symbol lets the user check his mail. The SixthSense system also augments
physical objects the user is interacting with by projecting more information
about these objects projected on them. For example, a newspaper can show live
video news or dynamic information can be provided on a regular piece of paper.
The gesture of drawing a circle on the user’s wrist projects an analog watch.
The current prototype system costs approximate $350 to build. Now What.....???
There was a time a few
years ago when Pranav Mistry had become everyone’s favourite
engineer-scientist. As part of the team that unveiled The Sixth Sense
technology, Mistry mesmerized us. The coloured finger caps, the small and sleep
projector-cum-camera, and the necessary theatrics of any tech launch led us to
believe that the Sixth Sense was the future, and Mistry was the charioteer.
But then, you know, we
were like, what happened?
Mistry disappeared from
public view for a while, and we’ve all been asking ourselves – so what happened
to the guy? What happened to Sixth Sense?
Let’s start first with
the tech. SixthSense today exists as project under Pranav
Mistry’s name at his personal website. The simple looking home page just has
text in it, but don’t get put off – pictures and videos are a click away.
But most importantly –
the hardware and software assembly instructions are open source. The link is at the bottom of the page. Doesn’t seem like
they’ve updated the page much, but these guys assembled
their own, so I suppose, so can you! This author meanwhile did not see any news
of commercializing SixthSense, which he/she would be happy to be told about.
Mistry’s moved on to other things. He’s currently heading the Think Tank
Team and is the Director of Research of Samsung, where he’s busy
developing the latest in Samsung’s arsenal of cutting edge technologies.
That’s a pretty good
job, I would think.
Couple of months ago,
Mistry unveiled the new Samsung Gear ‘smartwatch’, which can call, message,
take pictures, play music and run a host of other apps right from your wrist.
By the way, Samsung overtook Apple as the
world’s largest seller of smartphones last year. I feel pretty certain
the tech has something to do with that.
If you’re interested in
the work Mistry’s been doing apart from the viral Sixth Sense project, have a
look at his website.
Some of his projects are incredibly cool – my personal favorite is the
Mouseless project, which basically just takes a normal mouse and makes it
disappear. People are busy designing the most ergonomic shape and size for a
mouse that can fit various hand sizes, and Mistry just goes and eliminates the
I also enjoyed the idea
of inktuitive, which allows you to draw as if on paper, but gets your computer
to pick up what you’re drawing as digital signals. Here’s the kicker – it also
liberates you from 2D drawing, because the sensors can detect in 3D space.
To close, here’s Mr.
Mistry describing himself on his website. Read this out loud for maximum comic
effect. What a simple, wonderful guy!
I, myself am

Akhil Lokhande (Akshay
Kumar) just has one aim in life: he wants to earn enough money to 'prove
his worth, which will in turn, impress his girlfriend's (Tammannah
Bhatia) father (Mithun Chakraborty). That is, till he gets the news that he is
the son of a multi-millionaire diamond merchant. Akhil's troubles don't end
here: his father has inherited all his property to a dog, called Entertainment!
Akshay Kumar's latest
film Entertainment, which also stars Tammanah Bhatia, was promoted as a 'masala' entertainer'
you just cannot afford to miss. Take our advice, don't waste your time on it.
The film fails on several levels, and there's nothing remotely entertaining in
The screenplay. Done by
Sajid-Farhad, it does not really build up into much of the story, and most of
the information is speed-fed. Within minutes, in what seems like a montage of
videos, Entertainment shows Akshay trying his hands at various jobs, without
much of an explanation.
Somewhere along all this, we are also introduced to his father: he's been
living off his 'hard-earned' money in a hospital because he isn't the real
father! And while he is dealing with all this, there is more in store for the
hero: he is told that he is the son of Pannalal Johri, a diamond merchant based
in Bangkok, and that his father bequeathed all this property to a dog
This is where the drama
unfolds: in the first half of the film, Akshay's fighting the dog, and
post-interval, he is fighting for the dog.
That doesn't make for too bad a story. It could have been more engaging and
funny had it not been a montage of videos put together.
The trouble is, even
before we are allowed to sympathise with Akshay's poverty, he plunges into his
fight for money. Not that there is much of a fight.
And with just one leap (literally), Akshay changes his mind from considering
Entertainment as his sole enemy to a brother!
Entertainment could very well have been one of those rare films on animals
which Bollywood has been hankering for a long time. Sadly, there is not much of
What it shows is some dogs, weird tricks to fight them, and even weirder tricks
with which they fight back. No, this one ain't for pet lovers either.
Akshay Kumar is not in his best for this one, and Tammannah does not have much
to do. Even Prakash Raj -- known for his over-the-top melodramatic performances
inspired from our villains of the 80s -- underplays his character. Imagine
Prakash Raj and Sonu Sood enacting Karan Arjun (the 1995 Shah Rukh Khan-Salman Khan-starrer).
There isn't much screenspace for Mithun.
If there is any bright spark in the film, it is comedian Krushna Abhishek (of
Comedy Circus fame). If you like his kind of comedy, you can sit through this
mindless 'entertainment'. Krushna does not go out of his way or has much at his
hand, but this is what he is loved for and he does it well -- slapstick comedy
with innane, Bollywood references.
Even if a film is not a great piece of art, it should be entertaining. This one
fails in both aspects.
